ester schneider: moon peacock flower
Ester Schneider is a talented young mixed-media artist whose works raise questions regarding identity and faith. Her exhibition “Moon-Peacock Flower,” curated by Sarit Shapira, was shown at the Tel Aviv Artists House until August 11.
Schneider, born in Moscow in 1978, earned her MFA at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, in 2009. Since graduating, Schneider has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows around the country.
The exhibition “Moon-Peacock Flower” includes a selection of Schneider’s paintings, sculptures and installations, in all of which Schneider endeavors to Schneider uses unconventional materials like hair, yarn, rope and feathers to construct a gallery space which serves as an architectural substitute for the traditional “white cube.” Her works are expressive and intriguing, lending a new perspective on the complexity of belief and identity.
