OREN FISHER

The art work that is placed in and on different surfaces, both in private spaces and in the public sphere are akin to hieroglyphs in several ways.  They attempt to vocalize contemporary mythologies that tend to be overlooked .They aim to extract their syntax from an almost hidden realm of the banal and form them into lucid pictorial expressions and phrases. In that sense, the goal if there ever was an ‘aim’ to speech is to try and explore bewildering things by using a comprehensive representation. The drawings themselves are both minimalistic and expressive. They are close in form to children’s paintings, naïve drawing, bad painting or art brut because of their ability to skip some of the sarcastic traits of mediation and be instantaneously recognizable and approachable.  I wish for them to assimilate into their environments as questions, directions or explanations that I feel are required.
